Cream is white with the risk taken out. You get the same light, warm-weather look, but it is far more forgiving in photographs and much less stark in daylight, which is why it outsells white here many times over. The plain creams are the cleanest and most modern, and they are the ones to look at for an outdoor wedding. The tweeds and checks work on a cooler day or at a country venue, where a flat cream can look underdressed. Cream is a daytime colour and it does not pretend otherwise. Under artificial light in a dark room it loses most of what makes it good.
